Default timing mark

I was doing some maintenance on my 96 LS400 this weekend and noticed that it has timing marks on the harmonic balancer. I looked at the decals under the hood for a timing specification but there wasn't one. Is it possible to manually adjust the timing with the dual distributors and if so, what is the correct factory setting?

NO there is not any adjustments on the timing, we're not in the '60s anymore. Those engines were so much easier, in my opinion. The timing is auto adjust with all the sensors and ECU. The timing marks on the crank and camshaft pulleys are there to line up the timing when ya change the T-belt, and to check to see if it jumped time.

you can only CHECK the timing (when jumped right) but not adjust it manually. totally computer controlled.
