Default Just bought my first Lexus

I just purchased my first Lexus. It's a 1991 LS400 with 287,000 miles. Previous owner of 19 years had all records and dealer stamps for service and oil changes. My regular mechanic told me with those records on this car I should buy it because it will keep on running until I kill it.

I must say, wow! If all Lexus' run and ride this well after 20 years and almost 300,000 miles, I AM SOLD! I've purchased new Lincolns (Town Cars and Navigators) and none rode this well even when new.

Nice forum! Can't wait to dive in.

Congrats! I was pleasantly surprised how well the one I bought drives and is still holding together in terms of build quality and materials. Mine is a 93 with ~247k with quite a bit of deferred maintenance due and still seems to be in better shape than some cars half it's age.

Welcome to CL, you will find lots of helpful info here. As long as you maintain the car as well as the previous owner, the car will last forever.
This remark; "I should buy it because it will keep on running until I kill it." was he being sarcastic? Do you kill alot of cars? This one will be hard to kill.

Yeah, he was basically telling me that I would have to neglect it to kill it which, no I definitely do not do. I try to take great care of my cars.

Thanks for the welcomes and I'll post a pic or two when I getem.

Welcome...
It warms the heart to know these cars are still roadworthy and finding love. Toyota did well.

Post some pics of your ride.

Welcome to the LS family. You'll enjoy the car for sure. Felt the same way when I bought my first LS almost 3 years ago. The previous cars I had don't even come close. Great ride!
