No mesh filter in 99 PS?

No mesh filter in 99 PS?
Greetings.
The power steering reservoir on my 96 has a stainless steel mesh filter near the bottom (along with little bits of crap that it caught).
On my 99, there is no such filter. Is this typical? Is there another filter somewhere else?
