Water Pump R&R - 97 LS400
So I did my timing belt and everything, including the WP about 5K ago. Looks like I now have a small leak!
When I did the install I used Red Silicone, and it looks to be leaking. What do you guys recommend as the sealant? I don't think I want to do the red silicone again! I know I had the surfaces very clean and the WP was new. Torqued the bolts to spec. DANG!

Different colors just means the temp range. Red is up to 650*, copper is 700*, and blue is 500* which is what I have on mine and I haven't had any problems with it, I changed my WP last year. (14K miles ago) If you have a leak it's not b/c of the red sealer, you might have missed a spot or it could have dried too much before you installed the WP and it's not sealing.
Funny thing, I even used the blue sealant when I changed my 4" speakers to 5 1/4". (Directions from lexls.com) I just didn't feel like going to the store to get something different. Just use what ya got.

this may or may not help anyone, but I will pass it along. we have put on 4 water pump/ TB combos the last few weeks, and on one of them, the pump came with alignment pins in the new pump, we didnt see that and the pump didnt quite seat properly, so we took it off and saw the pins. removed them and then it was fine. I am quite sure it would have leaked at some point. we use red sealer, but it would not matter, red, blue, copper, all are ok.
