yeah, i guess what i can do, i can get oem parts from lexuspartsworld.com, they are cheaper than my local dealer. i'll check to make sure there will still be warranty. you are right, saving a couple hundred dollars will not be worth a bad timing belt job.

Do the caps and rotors. They're ancient technology parts and wear out dramatically and fast. In the old days they'd get changed every 10k miles...I did my own caps rotors for less than 100$ on my own, I'm a computer guy by trade I'm not good at cars (yet!). After you do the spark plug wires, spark plugs, caps, rotors and replace the electrolytic caps in the ECU then focus on other stuff like fuel filter, ect is my advice. But I am no mechanic. How old is your timing belt? When you change that always do the water pump at the same time I heard.
