what else is need in addition to this kit to convert my LS400? The only thing i can think of is a custom pedal setup.

custom driveshaft, trans mount, cmc, trans itself, clutch, wiring, and minor clearancing iirc.

though 4U2QUIK would know more.

Custom driveshaft, or have your stock driveshaft modified.
and if you go with the custom driveshaft with the GM universals (super common and cheap, can find them anywhere if you break down) Then you have to run an adaptor at the diff which gets expensive.
Or you can just have the front half of your driveshaft modified for the manual which is usually under 100$.

Yep, trans mount, the adaptor kit, pedal, wiring (pretty minor unless it's a 98 or newer engine), and no real clearancing, unless you just mean moving some of the fuseboxes over to make room for the pedal assembly.

Not to bring this back from the dead for no reason, but I'm using a 97 LS400 engine and ECU in my Cressida with a W58. Computer doesn't really care about the fact that the Auto is gone. It's just throwing codes for missing solenoids which can be cured by not doing what I did and hacking away all the Auto trans wiring and just leaving the solenoids plugged in. Maybe one of these day's I'll cure it with some resistors or something. But anyway, here's an in cab view and listening pleasure of the beautiful 1UZ having fun.

In all honesty, this engine should've came with the M/T as an option. The engine is just so much more responsive and rev happy. Its just fun as hell dumping the clutch in 2nd gear and doing a brake stand. Thick white smoke bellows out instantly and just makes the world behind you disappear in seconds. I just want to M/T the GS just to see how the VVT-i would act with a wide open exhaust like on my Cressida.

Word of advice, dump the stock exhaust setup. The 1UZ wants to tell you it hates the hell out of it. Ask 4U2QUIK what he thinks of my 5spd 1UZ since he rode in it. 3 full sized adults in a 3,500lb Cressida. It still spun the hell out of the back tires in a 2nd gear quick shift.

i would like to see what a T56 with a custom bellhousing would do in an LS, honestly cars are just metal so if you can get everything setup and fabbed anything is possible, for the AE86 they use 6 speed miata trannys and fab stuff up to make it work which is kool but a corvette/viper/gto tranny would be pretty dope and durable in an LS plus u can change gear ratios by just going on summit lol

There is already a kit/adapter for the T56 to 1UZ and iirc there is also a kit for the V160. Considering the price on the V160 option I would definitely go T56.

considering the price of a T56 and the money you have to spend to get it to handle power (or buying a T56 Magnum), you could go V160/161....

^^^True^^^ I guess it boils down to preference/availability. I was contemplating this conversion before but, the auto tranny is so silky smooth it literally feels like I have one gear. Plus driving in traffic would suck with a clutch pedal. I guess I'm getting older and I've grown fond of being able to sip coffee while driving. On a side note I have driven my buddy's MX73 with a stock 1UZFE and a W58 and HOLY STUFF this engine really comes alive banging through gears at redline.
