Default Ls400 5spd M/T

I've searched and searched and came up with nothing except people attempting to do it but never hearing about it again. Well, if I'm wrong, I apologize. Ladies and gentlemen, feast your eyes on the first LS400 5spd M/T.

My buddy who owns Daft Innovations was making this for one of his buddies. I put together the leather shift boot to make it look factory so its not that hard. The car is going to be some sort of track/street car so it's still a work in progress. The condition its in right now is the same way it was purchased.

Very cool, should definitely be a one of a kind. Any specs like gear ratio or a tentative 0-60 time with this new tranny? keep us updated with more pics. It's incredible in that picture just how large and heavy the AT really is. Thanks for sharing

I come for the images and sound of a 5speed LS400 and i get nu-metal garbage.

Can they make a video of just the car?

This is so dope, makes me want to find one for dirt and make a missile car.

congrats, good to see one finally get done in the US.

this has been theoretically possible for quite some time now, given the 1uz-->w58 kits out there.

did your friend fab up an adapter/clutch/fw/throwout himself or use quantum or related components?

no quantum stuff.... I didn't do the swap, but I made the adaptor plate, flywheel, and driveshaft adaptor.
here's some more eye candy that I've been keeping.

what'd you guys do for pedals i'm curious? mk3 supra or sc300 m/t? or other?

looks like you used a modded 1uz bellhousing, did you go hydraulic throwout or fab up something for a fork?

Custom pedal setup for the clutch. I don't have pics rd it is preferredight now, but it's sweet.
the bellhousing wasn't modded, just an adaptor plate with a hydraulic throwout setup.
We used a howe unit for this swap, but I've used the quartermaster in the past, and it is preferred because of it's superior design.

Very nice! I wander if you can set it up to use the OEM tanny brackets and with polyurethane or derlin bushings. Would like to see the pedal set-up as well.

Freaking. Awesome.

Would it be too much to ask for a ballpark total for the entire conversion, because every time I drive somewhere I always wish my lex was manual.

Also, as if you needed another one, here's a request to see those pedals!!!

+1 on the price tag!! Almost every time I drive my LS, I wish it was 5-speed. I drive manual everyday and could only imagine that V8, switching through 5 gears. Definitely interested in how much $$$ it would cost to do this conversion.

I can't give a price estimate as of yet, but I definetly want to buy a 2nd or 3rd generation ls400 and do the swap in it, that's how sweet it is. I'm a trucker so I've hit the road already.

I'll see if I can get my buddy to send me a pic of the clutch. The clutxh master actually mounts on the inside of the car instead of the engine bay.
