Try finding this jewel! The plastic button located under the drivers side dash, that releases the trunk, has broken. Now all I have is the metal release tab. The trunk opens fine, but it sure looks ugly! Anyone know where to get one of these? They just slide on the metal tab.

Thanks,

Phil

probably wont be able to find just the button, but should be able to find another switch assy. and swap your lock cylinder into it.

I just need the plastic cover with the trunk icon
The trunk remote works fine. I just need the plastic cover that has the icon of the trunk on it and fits over the inside release.

I know exactly what you're talking about. Mine just broke today. I tried super gluing it with gorilla super glue. It's holding good. Just slid it back on. I'll see how long it holds up. Fingers crossed. This would not be something the dealer would sell i don't think. But good luck man.

This is what you're looking for. And you can see where it's cracked and my bootleg gluing.

we understand that, not available separately from the dealership, and the part from a junkyard will soon break just like yours did

It's good that you are using the search feature but this is a 3 year old thread and the OP only has the 2 posts he wrote in this thread so I (highly) doubt he is even still needing one. But thanks for showing us where your super glue is going to crack again.

Old thread, but I need one too for my gen2 GS. Just finding the right word for this thing was a hassle...
I glued mine but that didn't last even putting it back on.

In these times you may be able to get this 3-D printed. An epoxy I would feel would have held together strongly though that all depends on the type of plastic composite this may be.

Fabricate New Lever out of Aluminum
The plaatic lever is sold as part of switch assembly.

Black is only color still available.

The last 5 yard pulls surveyed had broken or fractured plastic trunk release lever.
Ordinarily the plastic injection molding is very good...this is one part not over built.

Perhaps Aluminum fabrication is the more durable way to go..
Paint to match and screen on logo.

Thanks all, it's not that big of a deal, everything still works without the plastic, luckily.
