I called the dealer today wanting to know the cost to replace the struts on my 97 LS400 and he was shocked to know that they needed to be replaced at only 82k miles. He says that pretty uncommon to have a LS400 blow out that early. Is this uncommon? The car hits small pot holes and the such pretty hard in the front and not so much in the rear is the only reason why I think they are or have gone bad. What are you inputs?

IS the car Really floaty on the road? DO you seem to just bounce around when you go over a dip in the road?

If so the YES you need to replace them. Read my post on replacing rear struts.

I just replaced the rear struts on my 95 ES300 (90kmiles). i lived/worked in downtown l.a. and anyone that drives around there knows how bad alameda street is in particular. i used to drive hard over much of the road flaws. sure enough, my struts cracked or leaked or something. it sounded weird every time i slowly went over a speed bump, a lotta swishing and creaking sounds. i guess next is the front.
