Just because you get a set of wheels on the street for a deal doesn't mean getting them back to perfect status is going to be cheap or simple. And just so you know, step lips are only manufactured by on manufacturer in the U.S. and they DON'T stock the parts. That coupled with the fact that many of the Japanese wheels that the members on this forum have are not the standard configuration that the rest of the U.S. based wheel companies use. So the part HAS to be custom machined and drilled in order to fit. Next time you think a lip is expensive think of the work that needs to be done in order to make a Work vsxx lip fit.
Step 1: Disasseble wheel
Step 2: Check center disc to make sure its straight on a fixture w/ a dial indicator
Step 3: Calculate the BCD (Bolt circle diameter) of the center for drilling the barrel on the CNC machine
Step 4: Set up component on CNC machine
Step 5: Program Cnc machine to drill and bore correct dimensions
Step 6: Get lip polished or chromed (Outsourced)
Step 7: Reassemble wheel on Runout fixture with dial indicator to ensure concentricity
Step 8: Seal components with specialized silicone
Step 9: Package wheel and ship out.

9 steps to fix one lip. Im not going to go through all that to make $20......
wow dude, you totally missed the point of our posts...

we were remarking what a GOOD PRICE the OP got to have his wheels rebarreled (parts+labor) given the prices we had received for parts alone.

note i specified in my post that my prices were w/o labor. that was the price i was quoted some months back for a pair of 18" HRE Style step lips, including shipping, not including any labor. HRE is as you know a US based manufacturer, using standard hardware, without any special fitting or drilling on your end (as i was told.)

so what are you getting so worked up over, we were PRAISING your company for giving the OP such a reasonable price, and to some degree for offering wheel components to the masses. Instead of adding in something relevant or helpful you get MAD at us? gg.

you really gotta read and understand the posts before you get angry and defensive with us. Both SKPerformance and I were commenting on the high component prices quoted to us, especially in comparison to the extremely reasonable prices (WITH LABOR!!!) that the OP got.

what do you think the OP should do given cracks in the barrels? replace or repair?

I was just replying to a few sly remarks that I had read. If the barrel is cracked in multiple places the best thing to do is replace the part, and also the safest.

Sorry Andy , you really did miss what we were saying .
I want to spend the money and don't expect $200 a complete barrel like you mentioned above . I think $500 a barrel is more than fair market value to be paid for materials alone .
For all of those steps 1-9 you were charging $80 on top of the barrels each so I am not sure how that calculation goes into making the barrels alone more expensive .
Most people spend $2000 for complete mid level wheels .
I am wiling to pay $2000 for the 4 barrels alone that is not the problem in any way .
Everyone agrees you are a good option but other than this original posters quote to get them fixed we find the pricing too high in a value for dollar sense. Its not like it is just one person or people who don't spend the money on the cars but more than a few on here and other sites where you are mentioned . Hell I just dumped $2800 in oem Toyota parts but I received value for dollar in the parts that made it worth it. I think your pricing yourself out of your own market . Cap it at $500 a single barrel and you would have a winner for everyone interested it would not be cheap but it would be justifiable .

Thanks for the clarification guys... and Andy, I don't mean any disrespect with this post. I'm just trying to figure out my options and make sure I'm covered.

Thanks for the understanding.
