the amount quoted includes parts and labour. i checked the prices of those parts and they are close to what was quoted to me. the labour is only 200 bucks.. To get a second opinion, i l have to get my car towed to a diff shop which is gonna be a night mare since I live in Seattle and closest shop i have is a dealership. taking my car to a dealership is suicide.
here is what i found at the end of little research.
OEM reservoir for 68 bucks. (still fishing for the cap and sensor)
stock fan clutch from ebay(used) for 70 bucks.
no luck with the housing yet.
Considering what my mechanic told me is true what do you guys think about proceeding with changing all this?
Aside from towing which is a PITA, you are up the creek as far as hunting down mechanics. Might have to just bite it and let them do the work. Sorry...
I had when the alternator died. When the warning lights came on, car lasted another 10 minutes. Only after hours location was the dealer 4 miles away.
am so sorry for being hell bent on not taking the car to a dealer. IMAO dealers are world's worst liars. cant stand it when they start talking. I'll jump of a cliff with my car if it comes to taking it to a dealer. I love that car that much!!!
