1st Gen Audio Static Noise Then No Sound
This is a problem I encountered a few times...while the cd/radio is playing suddenly there would be a lot of static noise coming to the speakers then all sound is lost. After I turn the HU off for an hour or so then I would regain sound.
Any one experienced this before?
Is it related to the HU or amp? Maybe it is both or something else
thanks for any feedback

I'd put my money on the amp overheating. The static before hand is weird but who knows how the setup the thermal protection. Most after market amps just plain shutoff when they hit thermal protection.
The same could go for the HU but if it's a dead head (no internal amp) then it shouldn't be overheating on it's own
