Angry strut problem? help!

I went into Hesselbein to get an alignment today and the mechanic said that it could not being re-aligned until after i replaced my front struts?? My car kind of stutters in the front when you brake roughly. he then qouted me $725 + tax for repair... does this sound right to you guys? something seemed amiss

It has been so long since I did this. Might have the be in the original thread about the strut bar, clunk stuffs.

Vague memory:
$120 each for the new factory strut bars

Install receipt:
Install was $140
Alignment $70

Other front fixes:
Tie rods $56 each
Ball joints $67 each
Install $180
Alignment $75

I'll eventually get to the UCA and LCA but for now, alignment seems to be holding. The rear bushings are getting there as per my last inspection. Just don't want to spend any $$ yet.
