$110 later, CEL is on again!
I hate to be a cynic, but I can't help it.
If I designed and built a Billion Dollar Engineering Tour de Force Luxury Car like the Lexus LS400 in 1989, and then unleashed it upon the teeming hordes of humanity with their indifferent or hurried or not-too-bright mechanics, I would be aghast at how people treat it. Honest. I have seen people bash these cars, rip the wiring clamps clean off in showers of broken plastic, smash on valve covers with dirt raining into the camshafts, yanking spark plug wires ***** nilly leaving cable stays off "because they are too hard to put back on", overtighten the 10mm nuts and under tighten the 22mm bolts, I have seen people lazily tell their customers "it's the ECU" before they even think to run a diagnostic code, and I have seen people throw parts at the car in the vain hope that they accidentally land on the solution. It is so annoying to follow the directions, but it sure helps. The Toyota engineers made a remarkably comprehensive workshop manual set with diagnostic charts. So far, my Lexus experience has been reliable and fun . . . following the directions even.

good mechanics help... the ones around here (even at the Lexus dealer) are morons.
My last LS400 they said my tires was causing my vibration... turns out it was the motor mounts. The LEXUS TECH told me that the motor mounts on these cars never wear out. Yeah right.
