Car will not crank 1996 security issue?
I have a 1996 Lexus Ls400. When i attempt to crank there is no power, it sorta turns off like starter kill. My ac blows but my radio does not turn on when the key is in the ignition set to on. My power windows seem to work but my dome lights are dead. I checked the fuses in dash and in the engine bay. My security light on the dash does not seem to be lit.
My keyless entry/alarm remote does not seem to work. I even went as far as replacing the battery. It worked fine yesterday.
Would a bad starter cause the security system not to get power? doesnt seem right.
I think my little brother set something off when he was grabbing the groceries.
Optional Information:
Year: 1996
Make : Lexus
Model: ls400
Engine: v8
Already Tried:
replaced battery
unlock and lock driver door
pull battery cable
pull and check fuses in the engine bay and under dash
manually open pass door and trunk.

Sounds like you have pretty much checked all the small things. The starter should not be causing the security issues. I would try pulling the negative cable for like an hour or so, and see what that does. It says you pulled the battery cable, but if it doesn't sit for long enough the security just runs off of capacitors for a while, so you need to drain them as well. Try it for an hour, see if that works. I had a similar issue on my 92', but I think you security system will be a little more updated then mine.

It is very possible that the security is preventing it from starting. I just diagnosed the same issue, and came to find that the same issue is prevalent in Camaro's. There should a reset of some sort for the system, but im not sure about the lexus as I did for the Camaro....
