I heard that the trac off happens when the check engine light is on. But no one confirmed that on here.

Wish I could help, I'd like to know too.

Yes, the LS400 ECU generally disengages the traction control (TRAC OFF) whenever a CEL comes on. It will not engage until the problem is resolved.
The 02 sensor replacements aren't very difficult but any mechanic will definitely charge A LOT to have the job done.

Goodluck!

PS:Try searching ebay for a replacement O2 sensor, in order to save yourself some money.

Thanks CP...I already checked the tutorial to bone up on the swap...Also found Denso universal 4 wire o2 sensors (#2344000) on Rockauto.com for $48.99 each..or $80.79 per for direct fit..

How hard can it be to change the O2 sensors?

I need to change mine so I can get TRAC back on asap. Isn't fuel economy also worse when it's off?

Doesn't seem that hard. Wonder why it would be so expensive to get a mechanic to do it?

Well, if im not mistaken, there are a few threads here (PLEASE SEARCH :-P) that will definitely aid in the replacement of the sensors. From my understanding, pre-cat o2 sensors are the ones that can cause harm, versus the post-cat 02s, which have little to no effect... I think.... lol

Anyway, look it up, get it done and get the car back on the road
