It is extremely difficult to blend a pearl or metallic.
Damned impossible, and I've been painting for 4 years. You can't blend on a metallic or pearl mid-panel. If it was just a regular base coat, then yes, I've successfully blended mid-panel a base coat, but you have to clear the entire panel.
Mr Euro:If you're looking for a certain custom look,you can install any antenna that peaks your fancy. If you want great AM&FM reception then leave the original antenna alone. The engineers at Toyota did a good job.Try this, have someone operate the radio while you watch the antenna, you will see it move up or down, for the best reception. dfkd:That's why your great looking stubby antenna gets poor reception.It will work great for cellphone reception.
supposedly (can't confirm this) but some paint guy once told me it's next to impossible to fade/blend on most of the old lexus paints because they're either pearls or metallics, and the Black is single stage with no clear.
I did not know the black was a single stage. On my satin silver metallic 01 civic a local body shop faded a very small section of my 1/4 in and it looked great
