Default speedometer troubles

well i made it to washington but about 300 miles into my trip i noticed my speedometer was at 25 mph when i was in over-drive and my tach was at 2500 rpms which puts me somewhere at 75-80 mph...i pull in to Medford Oregon and my needle drops below 0 and hangs straight up and down so my needle is covering the cruise control light, the only thing i can think of is something has broke inside of my cluster.....luckily i have my gps with me so im using that as a speedometer...any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks

i think the gear that controls its movement may have gone bad. since it drops below 0 and doesnt read correctly.
