Okay, fixed the cruise control by swaping wire harnesses

Default Any Luck?

Hey JaHummer,

Any luck with that wheel yet? I talked to a few people at the Lexus dealer and they said that it won't fit, because of different airbag designs. I also have a 1997 LS400 and was going to get a wooden steering wheel too. If you can somehow make it fit, please pass on the secret!! Good luck with that. Let me know what's going on.

Yes I got it to work by buying an airbag for it on eBay, brand new for $100.00

As soon as i put it in, I will post a pic. As you can see here the difference is that the horn springs are mounted on the airbag unlike the '97 design where the springs are mounted on the wheel.

Just curious about your airbag purchase... Are you certain there's actually an airbag in there? I read an article recently about fraudulent parties replacing the internal components of an airbag for cardboard and plastic. Just thought I'd ask the question in case anyone else is looking to purchase airbags. Is there any sure fire way to check that you're receiving a functional airbag? (aside from setting it off)

Fortunately because of the design of the airbag, you can see it folded up behind.
