Front Rotor & Caliper Question
I have a 91 LS.
I was wondering how important the two phillips screws are that hold the rotors to the hubs on the front wheels? I pulled the left front wheel off tonight and saw that the screws are missing. I assume I'll find the same problem on the right front as well. Also, the holes for the screws don't line up with the threaded holes on the hub that they're supposed to screw into. If the screws are important, I'll have to take the rotor(s) off and line up the holes. The rears have the phillips screws in them.
On a related note, I took off the caliper, and compressed the two pistons about 1/4" before putting it back on. I test drove the vehicle and was amazed at how much better the vehicle stops! I think I'm going to do the same all around and spray some PB Blaster around all the pistons.

I'm going to find that vibration if it kills me (probably will)...
BTW, unless the whole thing was my imagination, the "enhanced braking" I felt last night after compressing and reinstalling the left front caliper seems to have gone away this morning. The braking is back to the way it was before. It's not bad, just doesn't exude a lot of confidence. I can only imagine what the early first gen braking must be like with a single piston. I'd definitely be upgrading to at least the dual piston setup if I owned an early first gen.

I got screwed buying these screws today at my local dealership. They charged me retail for them (even though I complained). I paid $2.48 a piece for the little buggers plus tax. Over 10 bucks for four little screws. They have to get them from the local supply house and they'll be in tomorrow. Didn't even stock them.

i'm kinda glad that i got the later 1st LS, cause i got the dual piston. but when i get my car down to my duty station, i'm sure i will upgrade to the supra caliper because i don't really feel like swaping the 95+ lower ball joint. correct me if i'm wrong about this.
