reupholster seats/leatherseats.com
my 98 ls400 is in need of some new leather and based off what im seeing on leatherseats.com the average do-it-yourself person can tackle this with a little time and patience. Does anyone have any experience in doing it themselves? how hard is it to to actually complete the process from start to end? as a whole would it be better to go to a reupholster shop? thanks for any input.

ive reupholstered seats with both cloth and leather and i can say that leather is tricky at times. but taking your time, using a heat gun and getting everything in the right positions will be the key. it can be done though by a average person. you are gonna need some hog ring pliers and some good side cutters or something of that nature to cut the old hog rings. also old blanket or something to lay down on the door sill for when you remove the front seats so just in case you bump em with the rails you dont scratch the sill. especially since the front seats arent the lightest in the world.
also if you do decide to tackle this on your own do the bottom of the back seat first then the back piece of the rear and the fronts last being as they are the most difficult and will take the most time to get everything settled right. this way you can go from the easiest to most difficult. good luck!
