1996 LS400 Stalls after prolonged use of cruise control
I have read a number of posts about this problem but as yet, there seems to be little certainty about the cause of the problem. I've just been on a driving holiday and so have more information that might help diagnose the problem.
The problem is that, after cruise control has been in use for prolonged periods, eg 1 hour, at high speeds, eg 100 -110 kmph, the engine sometimes stalls when the speed drops to around 40kmph or 25 mph. (40 kmph is the lowest speed at which cruise control will normally operate but this fact might be sheer coincidence).
The new information I have is that the engine stalled even if cruise control is switched off prior to dropping the car's speed to the vicinity of 40kmph.
Previous posts have suggested the problem is caused by a faulty control computer, poor or blocked ventilation, an intermittent control motor. Can I have your opinions please? TIA ... Greg

supply of replacement ECU
Thanks for the replies. A replacement part appears available from
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LEXUS...71510005r25736
Can I be confident that purchasing from here will be safe and provide the correct part for my 1996, right hand drive, Australian car?
regards
Greg

ecu location
It's a while since I went looking for mine but I'm pretty sure it was located above the accelerator pedal. Please let us know if the new ECU fixes it; I'm still living with the problem TIA.
FYI, there is also detailed information at this Australian LS400 forum,
