the jdm and possibly euro spec LS' have running lights in the corners of the fogs, in the US you can even see the space on the back of the secondary pieces where you WOULD drill a hole for a light. it's something that could possibly be done at home.

the rest of it is pretty much just wiring.

The small unused light units next to the fog lights on the U.S. spec 98-00 LS400 has a stamp on the back of the housing that indicates that the maximum bulb size is 5 watts.

Member "98 LS" posted details and photos on 12/06/2003 on how to drill a 3/4 inch hole in the back of the housing using a Forstner drill bit from Home Depot and then use a Ford 84725 bayonet socket and a type 90 bulb wiring each side to the side marker light on the bumper. He bought everything except the drill bit at Pep Boys. I happened to print and file his instructions back in 2003 but I never did the mod.

Older threads on this forum prior to 2004 disappeared a long time ago -- I think there was a database crash or a redesign that lost the old threads.

I've thought about using the sidelights next to the fog lights as additional turn signals. One problem is that the small light modules don't have much depth -- my notes indicate that there is just less than 25 mm between the lens and the back of the light module -- which doesn't allow much space for a bulb big enough to be useful as a turn signal. Even though the housing is marked for 5 watts, I suspect that a much higher wattage bulb could be used for flashing turn signal without melting the housing.

The depth of the sidelights next to the fog lights in the above photo are much deeper than those in U.S. spec 98-00 LS400s -- it looks like those allow for some pretty large light bulbs.

That site (celsiorup.com) is gold! Lots and lots of DIYs on there with plenty of high res pics.

Good find.

qewani1, do you have a source for the Japanese market 98-00 Celsior corner lamps and sockets?

From this other cool site that was recently posted, it looks like the Japanese market cornering lamps use a bulb similar to the front and rear turn signals: http://www.*******.com/parts/p_J_200...EANK_8109.html

Edit: Don't know why but the second part of the URL "t o y o d i y" gets replaced by asterisks when I post the URL.

Kansas , i dont buy parts from the webs since cost will be high.
My source for parts is scrap (junk yard) or fake parts from the market.
I beleive japanese cars parts are rare in US right?

qewani1, thanks for the reply.

Cars made for the Japanese home market are very rare in the U.S. -- there seem to be more in Canada -- may be due to Canadian regulations that make importation of older nonconforming cars easier.

Do you have a source - either scrap or "fake" - for Japanese market car parts like the 98-00 Celsior corner light? Your location is "asdas". Where is that?

it should work as long as your bulb is made to run off of 12v. the only thing to be wary is that you don't draw more than ~15amp off the WHOLE circuit (both fogs and both corner bulbs that you added) since any more will blow the fog light fuse.

oh, and no crimp connectors here please, solder+heatshrink.

If that's the case, could you possibly find a junked 98-00 LS400 and buy the side fog housings and ballasts for me? I'd be willing to give you extra for what you pay if you could do that for me.
