Hi all - I have a couple Qs regarding power steering (not covered in the power steering bible)
Last time I went to the lexus dealer I was told the PS pump had a leak - and they recommended changing the PS pump.
Sewell Lexus has the pump (44302-50020 ) for sale $312 which is great compared to the price quoted by the local dealer. Q1 is:
Are there any gaskets or seals that I need to order along with the pump itself?
I haven't been able to find any step by step pump replacement instructions either and have looked:
1) lexus service manual cd which I bought off ebay. (I find the data there very incomplete)
2) posts in this forum.
3) sites pointed to by the "repair manual sticky" in the LS400 forum.
I saw the pump rebuild post which was great - something on that order for pump removal would be great.
Q2 is: Is there detailed guide on pump replacement somewhere?
Depending what needs to be done on the PS pump, I had mine re-sealed. $50 in parts and $150 labor. When I had the alternator replaced after an emergency tow-in, Lexus said same to me also...replace whole pump.
