Default Recent purchase 1994 LS400

My aunt recently sold me her '94 ls400 with 192,xxx miles for $2,000. The body is in great shape but it needs a paint job badly. The interior is not in perfect shape either but it should be nice once i clean it up. I'm deciding if i should buy seat covers for it or not.

So far i can tell that they engine is still very good and strong. The only thing that i need to fix is get a bigger battery for it. I don't know if this happens to this model ls400 or its just mine. But at night time, my headlights are on and the a/c is running, i'll roll up my windows and i can see my headlights dim so this brings me to think that i need a bigger battery for it.

My audio is not working as of right now and i think i know why. But this is what that is happening. The headunit turns on and everything but it has no sound. I told my aunt and she told me that the last customer that drover her car took the cd changer and ever since then it doesn't have sound. To diagnose the problem i checked the fuse and everything seemed fine. I don't know if the cd changer is missing then there is no sound or if the factory amp is blown. Any suggestions?

I"m planning to change the factory speakers to 6.5", taking out the factory sub, and adding 2 10" re se in a sealed box in the trunk.

Well enough with the reading and now i'm going to attach some photo. Tell me what you think and what i should do. In other words, give me ideas on how to make the car look better for a daily driver.

Also, i don't know when my aunt changed out the timing belt, spark plugs, etc. So give me a list on what i need to change. I know as of right now i need new shocks for the hood, also a temp. sensor: i read somewhere on this forum that, that sensor needs to be changed to a new one to get optimal mpg.

I forgot to add that the cluster needs to be fixed and a panel on the side of the passenger side is missing. Does anyone know where i can get one along with a cd changer? I included a picture of the missing panel incase you guys don't know which panel i'm talking about.

Sounds like your alternator is going... shouldn't have anything to do with the "size" of a battery.

And yes she needs a little TLC!

Alternator huh. Thats good to know. I was planning to purchase a ho alternator because i am going to be putting a system in my car so its a good thing the alternator needed replacing anyway.

My uncle is a mechanic (he has his own body shop), and i wonder if he knows the symptom of an alternator dieing. If he says it's going to go then my dad will help me replace it. Thanks for information!

also check your power steering...might be leaking since smart toyota designed the 1uz so that PS is right on top of the alternator and when that leaks...it fugs up the alt. congrats on purchase and welcome to the LS400 forum.
