I find myself definitely obeying the speed limit. I don't gun the engine and I've stopped buying premium. I'm combining trips and limit my driving where possible. I get 20+ mpg, but the fill ups are killing me. I paid $ 75 to fill up a few days ago.

Another note on fuel prices that really pisses me off. Pricing tends to be anticipatory as opposed to being based on what the oil companies actually paid. First, the oil companies are selling from their inventories at prices paid sometime in the past. Also, they use forward contracts to buy at contracted prices that were negotiated when oil was much lower. They have record profits mainly because they're charging us increased prices that they themselves have not yet paid. This is total BS.

Going back to Regular will save you about $3 or so, but you're sacrificing fuel economy and power. You're back to square one, except with less power from midrange and up. I would go back to premium and start doing tune ups if you haven't already

I've noticed absolutely no difference in fuel economy and the power difference is so slight as to not make a difference to me. Regular gas in my area is still around 3.85-3.95 and I refuse to pay the price they want for premium. Even at the current prices for regular, it's costing $70 to $75 to fill up. At some point, one has to say enough is enough

I agree, I have run regular a few times recently and can not feel the difference at all...

Keep a good distance from the car ahead of you, this way you don't have to slow down drastically and then accelerate.

Work 2 hours of overtime per week to offset the hike in gas prices and you will not even feel it.

I just put 456 miles on my car this weekend. All mileage on 19 inch wheels. Lots of highway driving (70%) and about 30% stop and go traffic. 65% of time AC was on. I filled it myself on Friday, drove it 456 miles, and then filled it again with 17.2 gallons of gas. Using 91 Chevron. Same station both times.

Using Cruise Control as much as possible. That averages 26.51MPG, which I am very happy with.

Car has incredibly dirty air filter and all stock plugs/wires which needs to be changed (doing that tomorrow).
