Default can anyone... headunit '96

link me to a decent head unit that would work for my 96 LS400... with nakamichi and do i have to get a wiring harness? thanks.

basically any single DIN head unit will work.

You need to get the wiring harness of course as well as the dash insert thing .

Any cheap setup will sound worse than the factory Nakamichi. The factory setup is one of the best to come in any car from the manufacturer. If you just plan on replacing the headunit you'll definitely be making sacrifices.
