I use red but it think they're both pretty much the same thing

 

they arent...

 

Red is Long Life coolant, designed to go like 30k. Super Long Life, or the pink stuff is supposed to go 60k or longer. SLL supersedes LL, so if you use it, it won't differ in performance. My GS430 came with red, and since I worked at Toyota, I drained and flushed and now I run Pink, it's been at least 30k miles since. I will add that Pink is more expensive than Red, and they also recommend to flush it every 30k anyways, but I don't do it.

 

I am in the homestretch of this procedure. Very tough to get 2.8 US Gallons back in a LS!!
I was on fairly level ground & noticed that very little coolant came out of the Drivers side engine block drain. No idea why??

 

did you open the top freeze plug AND the overflow cap before draining?

 

I had 5 open orifices!! If I missed one now is the time to know!!
Whatever is in there now is either Toyota Red, Distilled water or Tap Water.
Green no more!!!

 

Not that there is anything wrong with green anti-freeze, heck it's been around longer than most of us. But it just doesn't last as long as the long life stuff, which it needs to be maintained about once every year or so.

 

Pink is a hybrid phosphate/organic acid coolant - but unlike Dex-Cool which uses 2-EHA and either sodium or potassium neodecanate as the organic acid, it uses sebacic acid as the organic acid.

Red also contains phosphate but the ingredient listing also states a tiny amount of sebacate.

Both contain no amines, nitrates, and borates.
