Default Not locking car causes dead battery

Have had a low/dead battery problem twice in 6 months on my '99 Lexus 400 LS. It sometimes sits in the garage, not driven, for a couple weeks. We live in a city with no Lexus dealer, so have to take it to a Toyota dealer. They told me that car should be locked with remote at all times, especially if sitting for a while as accessories continue to 'operate' even when car is not on; and that by locking it with remote, it will go into hibernation. Is this true? Has anyone heard of this?

Usually dealer's, or shall I say service writers say, when they dont know. Of course they cant say I dont know, so they come up with clever "stupid" things to say.

However, I would just replace the battery and be done with it.

Just replace the battery. I used to leave my car unlocked for a week or two on spring break and I never had the problem. If you still have the problem, the battery isn't your main concern.

I'd ask the shop to tell you in more specific details on their theory

But I concur with the others..

iF YOUR BATTERY IS MORE THAN 3 YEARS OLD DUMP IT AND GET A NEW ONE ALSO IF YOU JUST DRIVE A MILE HERE AND THERE IT WONT LET THE CAR CHARGE THE BATTERY. IT TAKES 2 HOURS OR MORE TO CHARGE A BATTERY WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ON THE ROAD YOU COULD GET A SMALL BATTERY CHARGER THAT TURNS IT SELF OFF AND PUT IT ON OVER NIGHT. FROM TIME TO TIME IT WILL KEEP THE BATTERY IN GOOD SHAPE IF YOU DON'T DRIVE THE CAR ALOT. IF YOU LEAVE ON THE ALARM SYSTEM IT WILL DRAW A SMALL AMOUNT FROM THE BATTERY
