Battery replacement trigger security
#16
Somebody please clear this issue up. I haven't had a battery on any car I've had within the last 15 years that didn't have the positive and negative symbols molded on the battery cover by the proper terminal. This is still the case on these batteries, correct, or no? I'm not feeling like heading outside to pop the hood just to check something so silly.
If this is still the case, then this is a matter of you wanting to put the right SIZE on the wrong post, no matter what the symbols were telling you.
I'm not trying to start something, I'm only trying to clarify what ACTUALLY happened here so that in the future someone can learn from what happened and NOT put the wrong cable on the wrong spot just because it fit. It sounds implausible that it was "the guy's" fault that the terminals weren't where they were supposed to be - if this was a NEW battery. More likely, the terninals were removable (or at least the battery posts were) to allow the battery to be used in whatever configuration your car had, and either he didn't tell you this, or you didn't realize this.
Please, for the sake of everyone following in your footsteps, tell us if this was a new or used battery, and if you were putting the cables onto the posts that fit, and did or didn't check the polarity of the actual battery.
