Default A running LS 400.

We all here know that an LS with stock exhaust is very quiet. But have any of you accidentally tried to start your car again while it was already running? I never have, but I almost did tonight, luckily I looked down at the tach and saw revs. Man this car is silent.

For those that have made the mistake, is the starter still activated? Or is there some sort of interupter switch that prevents it from happening?

My car already had an exhaust leak when I got it. Since then I had cut off the exhaust entirely, and now I have straight pipes. Magnaflow mufflers coming soon.

Either way, I have not truly experienced the quiet-ness of a LS400, but at least I don't have to worry about trying to start it while it's on.

I did that once when I first got the car. I was used to the rumble of my magnaflowed Lincoln LSV8 and thought i was just sitting there.

That shut the car off and then I started it again and it started just fine.

I've never done that in my LS400, although I have accidentally done that before in other cars due to absentmindedness.

Ours with factory exhaust has always had a slight rumble so I know it is running. You would think they would have a sensor to prevent starter engagement if the engine is already running. I'm not willing to find out though.

Done that.
No big deal.
It will chirp the gears of starter and flywheel and just keep running.
