Default Auto tilt steering wheel

Any way to disable this temporarily? Mine is starting to act up and it is irritating. If is just a fuse? I don't understand why there isn't an on/off switch for this. My Acura Legend had a switch, and I thought my old SC400 had a switch as well (Maybe not though).

Pop off the cover for the ignition and there is a ground wire connector , remove that and it will not tell the wheel to move.

Turning the "Auto tilt away" on or off is one of the customizable settings that a dealer or repair shop can change in seconds on a 98-up LS using a handheld scantool with the appropriate program card.

The indie repair shop I use has changed some of the settings on my 00 LS.

Attached is a complete list of customizable settings.

Well, yes, the early Lexus cars had a button on the column to turn the auto tilt away off. I never used the button a single time in 13 1/2 years of ownership of a gen 1 LS400 and I doubt if many others did either - probably why Lexus dropped the button.

The problems with the auto tilt away feature on the 98-00 LS400 can be resolved by implementing the relevent TSIBs - they have been posted previously on this forum or you can find them on various websites that have the Lexus TSIBs. The problem was fixed for free while the car was under the basic warranty but it is a rather expensive fix out of pocket - I think a coworker said that it would cost well over $1,000 to fix his.
