There are a slew of other changes that contributed to the 10hp increase. As long as you change the timing belt when it's needed it shouldn't be an issue anyway.

well, at the risk of being a smart ***, if you maintain the car like you should, there is no risk. the only people at risk are the ones who don't follow proper maintenance schedules. in that case, if the belt breaks and ruins the engine, it's your fault and i laugh at those people.
i see people going to home depot all the time spending all kinds of money for bull**** for their houses, but the same people refuse to keep their cars in good order because it's too expensive.
i know this because i work on these people's cars!

No guys, nobody screwed up at all, we have a great group here. What I meant to say was, I hope we keep it civil, so we dont have to lock this thread. In the past, this particular topic has resulted in a lot of deleted posts, and locked threads, which is sad because its an important one. We have one school that says 95-97 is non-int, while another claims it to be.

Thats all, sorry if I confused anyone

/steps aside.

with toyota, they pretty much do last as long as they should. never seen one break ahead of schedule, never seen one break on schedule, but i have seen some go 40k miles over and still be fine.

you may be right there, but that's life.
