i had a problem with my 1991 lexus ls400 180K miles

upon start up when cold the trac off light would come on and it could not be defeated by using the trac button. After 10-20 minutes the light would seem to just go off on its own. odd

so yes i search the forum and found a dirty throttle body was to blam since the tracion control unit it only a throttle interface and only effects the throttle and not the brakes .

after breaking the little vaccumm line off my stock airbox tube. my first look at the outside of the throttle body was disapointing it looked very clean however the more parts i removed in completely removing the t/b reveiled that on the other side of the second butterfly closest to the intake mainfold was just caked on black carbon goo .

at this point i also broke the throttle body gasket in half

after spraying a good xtra large can of carb cleaner " but their talls " into the t/b and the intake manifold i was able to get the t/b spotless and some of the black carbon out of the intake manifold

upon reinstallation the car surged and searched for idle ranging from 1k-3K and ran crappy due to me spaying way to much carb cleaner in the intake manifold also a very loud high pitched wissle . After looking i did not have my broke t/b gasket on correctly upon lineing it back up the best i could the nosie stopped which sounded like a hell of a vaccumm leak

now the car runs execllent and seems smooth all around and i have since not had any problem with trac off light which goes off as it sould after startup and is forever switchable with the botton now as before it was not.
