Default Front Suspension Problems. Need advice

Did some research, but want to make sure one more time.
When breaking and applying brakes, going over the bumps, I get clunking sounds from the front.. Its so bad that it hurts, is is the upper control arms or the strut arms.
I am getting the strut arms one way or another next week, but would love to get some input one way or another.

Thanks
Dave

Dave - I had this with my '98. It was the strut arm bushings. I replaced them myself and it made a huge difference. If you have them done, expect to pay at least $450.

It is actually called strut rods and they go all the time.
It can be done cheaper by buying replacement bushings only instead of the whole assembly.

Any Lexus parts I call Luis or Steve at Carson Toyota www.carsontoyota.com since they give me the best OEM pricing if the part is available.

Keep in mind that replacing the strut rods may make more sense--sure bushings alone are cheaper, but when you consider the effort and possible extra expense of pressing in/out bushings, the entire strut rod may not be such a bad deal.
I think strut rods with new bushings can be had for $100.

I also have a problem with my 2000 LS. When ever I go over sharp bumps or potholes I hear a louder than normal clunk which sounds pretty bad. Is the Strut Rod all I need to change or should I look at changing other components. I'm running about 110k miles on it right now and I want to get alot more. Also is there an online parts dealer which I can order from?
