Default Which would you pick?

I have the option of keeping my car: 95 black/tan with 108k...

... or selling and buying a 98 black/black with 124k for roughly $1000 more.

Should I stay with my 95 or upgrade to the 98 with 16k more for $1000 more?

hmm i guess u should look at maintenance records and take a peek at the type of options it has. im guessing you'll also be looking at the body and interior for its condition. i would pick the car that is cleaner visibly and performance wise.

If your car is in good condition, up-to-date on maintenance and such, I would keep it. You never know what problems you are inheriting when you buy someone else's car.

Lets say the condition of the cars was somewhat equal. Maintenance records are up to date.. the last certification was done at the Lexus dealer a couple of weeks ago, so no shady business there. My engine is significantly quieter though.. something to do with VVT-i?

As well, I would rather have a black interior, and 98-00 is my fav. design.

PureDrifter, no wood shifter/wheel and I'm not sure on the HIDs.

Also, I do have to go through the hassle of selling my car.

The VVTi engines should be just as quiet. In what way is the '98 louder?

Sort of a louder rumble. The cars were parked 4 feet from eachother and I was in between. The 98 clearly had a louder sound. Maybe a full tune up would help a bit?

Are you referring to the exhaust? If the exhaust is louder, it could be due to an exhaust leak.

I would keep your 95, selling a car is a pain IMO. Also, as sonyman said, you never know what you're getting into.

Nope.. exhaust seems to be fine. It's the engine rumble.

Let's put it this way.. how much would you pay for a 98 with 124k mi (200k km here in Canada, seems like more of a milestone) in pretty good condition. All options (heated seats, HIDs, etc.) except for wood shifter/wheel. Interior is perfect, exterior can use paint on a bumper and new fogs.

The engine should be just as quiet, so something may be amiss.

idk about canada but here in SoCal i wouldnt shell out more than 9.5-10k just because paint can get expensive quick.
