Steering column issue
My steering column goes in and out and down a LITTLE when I put in the ignition key. But the wheel does not go down as much as it should. When I then toggle the switch downward the wheel lowers a few millimeter and then it goes crrrckstz (sort of the sound when plastic cogwheels are worn out) but the wheel does not move.
I can hear that the relay is activated. But the wheel doesn't move. Sometimes I get the above sound and sometimes all I get is the click from the relay. I of course do not push the button for more than a second or so (not wanting to burn anything out that's not already broken).
Thing is..what is the issue here - and how do I fix it?
I mean, the motor can't be gone because the steering wheel DOES go down, just not as much as it should (far from the full motion). The relay can't be gone because I can hear that activate.
Now...any suggestions esteemed friends?
