Are you serious? You just turn the engine on, pop the hood, and spray with a hose? There are not any potential electric problems?
I've never cleaned my engine, so I'm curious.
I have a UCF21 so the major components are covered.
If your plugs / wires are exposed I used to cover it with tin foil so the water wont get on them. Same goes for any wires that look freyed etc.
Make sure your car is running.
You'll be ok.. Don't flood the motor just a concentrated spray
