Default Power Steering Pump Squeak Question

Have a 90 LS400 that runs so smooth that you wouldn't even know the engine was running but for a real annoying squeak that i've determined is coming the the power steering pump..pulley i assume..what can be done about this? Belt only has several thousand miles on it. Thanks!

Default No reponse :(

Could the bearings in the PS pump pulley be shot? Should i wait for something worse to occur or plan on replacing the pump now?

Change the fluid first and see if it quiets down, mine did after flushing the system.

quite easy to do, just pull out bottom hose and hook up to an empty gallon jug with a plastic clear pipe. start engine and pour dexron fluid until fluid run bright red. You need 2 people for this job. One to turn the steering L to R as you pour in the liquid. Raise car to avoid stressing the mechanism and avoid flat spotting your tyre.

Any Dexron III fluid will do fine, so take your pick. I personally use Mobil 1 synthetic ATF in my power steering since it's cheap (compared to other synthetics) and good.

Is it ok to mix Dextron ATF fluid (any brand) to the stuff you have in there, in order to top it off? Buy at Toyota Dealer or any parts store is ok?

as long as it isnt leaking, it's prolly DIII you have in there as it is. if you want to be **** about it you can flush it down with synthetic Dexron III spec fluid, but honestly any DIII fluid will work fine. medium grade from a parts place will work fine.
