clicking noise from engine. what could it be?

I have the same problem on my 1991 LS 400. It's not bad but the noise is...It's the valves and they cost around 2000 to fix all 32 of them. They told me you can fix one because if one is new and the others are old, the new one will pump harder and break the old ones.
