Default "Performance Chip"?

I see these all the time on ebay and i was wondering what the deal is. Do they actually add horsepower or is it just a scam? If they work, which do you recommend to use? Thanks

its basically a $0.30 resistor that fools ur ecu nto thinking hte intake charge is cooler than it really is, and adding more fuel to the mix.

basically u get more power for about 20mins by running the motor rich and wasting more fuel. eventually the ecu "learns" and it just readjusts the fuel.

this stuff is a complete waste of $$ and isnt even worht the shipping

Hahaha...I also know of kids who use these things around town and try to tell people that they are fast in their civics with coffee can mufflers... and their intakes that are pointed down at the ground. I can honestly say, I think those peices of trash make the car run WORSE.

Performance chips that DO work cost many HUNDREDS more.... and I have yet to see any out there for the LS400.

Why would a company engineer a quality chip for a non-performance oriented luxury car?

They wouldn't get their money's worth for the LS400. What % of LS owners do you think would pay a few hundred+ for more power? Very, very, very, very few.

That's why there's plenty out there for sportscars and trucks. Much bigger percentages of those owners WILL pay for more power.

Really? It would be sort-of hard to find someone to tune the Lexus though, wouldn't it?
