Default Anyone use LS400 to tow something?

I checked 1996 LS 400 with 160K miles on it. One owner, and have all service records with delaer.

Big turn off for me was they used tow hitch a few times like 2000 lbs. Should I worry about engine stress?

Anyway.... They want about $7K?

Engine? What about the stress on the transmission? Also, what's gonna stop all that weight when going downhill?

Man, the car would have to be immaculate for me to buy it...

damn dude, it was a joke, hence the winking smiley at the end.

besides, you cant really deny that the 1LS brakes arent exactly the best engineered pieces of kit in the world.

when else do i knock first gens, you act as though i hate them or something for the money their good cars and they even have a certain box charm but the 2LS IS a progression....

http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/body/trailerhitch.html has a tutorial which includes some good info on the LS' towing abilities.

Ionno, I never would tow anything on my car.

I'm sure Toyota built this car to last, as indicated by some of the high mileage cars we've seen on our forum. But seriously, you do agree that towing stuff would contribute to more wear and tear/stress on a car, right?

I will be doing the 2LS upgrade, becuz of its invaluable safety issue (I live in friggin So. Cal, stop and go traffic). I got the Goodridge lines, but waiting for enough beans to buy those calipers from ALIGA. Some nimrods on the freeway like to slam their brakes every now and then, just to get hit in the rear by a luxury vehicle. I don't think I need to explain why...

PD is rite on progression, 2LS had well over 150 upgrades/fixes that Lexus took car of, what they learned from 1LS. I'd buy a 2LS if I had the $, but for right now, 1LS is fine for me.
