Question 1991 LS400 New Owner Help!

1.Is the temp guage after car warms up supposed to be about middle?

2.O/D light blinks after driving awhile and sometimes the car seems to shift from 1st to 3rd.

3.When I hit a bump or small pot hole I hear a clump in front drivers side wheel. Maybe bushing or?

4. Anyone know a good mechanic or know your stuff? Im in Southern California.
THX any input would help. 1991 LS400 137k miles and has these problems. Hope I dont need major tranny repair.

The shift problem is most likely the 2 gear shift solenoid in the transmission.
Will cost about $250 at a shop. Will have to pull the pan and replace. Had the same problem and now runs smooth as glass.
