I just did this mod to my week old 99' that I bought last Friday and it definitely helps light output tremendously! The hardest part was getting that stupid metal/tin guard out from the housing through that small hole. Took me about 30 min for both of them digging with my needle nose pliers.

to stay on topic the lighting output does look improved but it's always hard to tell just from pictures.

I've noticed all the small changes Lexus made over the refresh and it adds up to a nicer overall driving experience. Plus, the added power gets addictive, especially when merging on the highway.

But I think most of the change is due to me having half the miles, 147k vs.297k. The suspension on the 99' is so much more damped, maybe attributed to the original Lexus vs. KYB shocks that I've got on my 99' vs. 97'.
