MP3 & Satellite Radio Install?????

There have been several threads on how to do this on LS400s - usually by tapping into the CD changer harness and sometimes giving up the CD player altogether to use an iPod instead. You will likely find them if you do a search.
I'm not into to Sat radio and rarely use my MP3 player but I took notice when a 98-00 LS400 parked next to me in the Costco parking lot recently as I was getting out of my 00 LS400.
The other LS owner had a Sat radio mounted next to his OEM radio. I asked the guy how he liked it. He proceeded to show me that he also had an iPod and said that both the Sat radio and iPod had been connected to the OEM radio by a local car audio shop.
He showed me that he could toggle between the OEM CD player, the Sat radio and the iPod with a three position switch mounted under the dash. The switch looked identical to the uniquely shaped round toggle switch on the Soundgate brand harness I used on our 98 Camry to plug into its CD port to hook up the mute wire on a phone kit.
The Soundgate harness on my wife's Camry is made to allow toggling between the OEM CD player and two other devices that use RCA jacks. I never used the jacks for other devices since I bought the harness only so I could tap into the mute connection for the phone kit. On our Camry, the entire Soundgate harness, including the switch, is stuffed behind the radio.
The other LS owner told me that he did not know how anything about how it was wired up. He said that it took the installer a few days with his car to figure it out. I didn't think to ask who did the hookup but I will ask him if I see him again.
I know this information doesn't help anyone but I think it at least shows a really nice solution is possible and that a knowledgable car audio technician can figure out things that are difficult for amateurs.
