my car shuts itself off after stopping from a long drive '95
i drove from ca to az and while i pulled out on the off ramp to a rest stop, the car shuts itself off. same thing happened with i exited an offramp in az. same thing on the way back.
dont know what the issue is. it could be the low idle as discussed in another thread...
does anyone have the same symptoms?

unfortunately a tsb you have to fork out buko bucks, now if you have a good relationship with your dealer they might gave you a break or something, but be prepared, like i said research it on the other site, or get one from a junkyard, what you want is the ecu for a non california ecu which is a 49 state ecu about 300 bucks if your lucky, good luck

Just warm up the car and set the base idle to 500 rpm with the set screw
on the throttle body with the idle air hose piched off--pull the efi fuse to
reset to base parameters, you may need to reset the throttle position sensor.
the TSIB is for 96 model year only as far as I know. The same repair can
work for all 90-97 Lexus V8 cars. It is best to have the throttle plate clean
as carbon buildup can cause the base idle to change..
good luck

I have a '96 which had the same stalling problem. I had a warranty on my used car purchase and my Lexus mechanic was able to replace the defective ECM with the one mentioned in the TSB, used,--my part was like $80.00. My LS now runs much better with no stalling. There are companies which will offer repair services--they won't fix the stall problem, but just return the original ECM to the incorrect condition. Also, the problem is not an idle speed problem alone, so the computer really needs to be replaced. Good luck.
