Default noisy lifters

I suspect that with low miles of 48k for my 96' LS 400 that the lifters are slightly noisy. Is this characteristic for LS? What can be done to cure this?

I also have a 96 and actually noticed the same. Took it to the dealer and was told that it is normal. In fact, they said that it is actually the injectors that I am hearing.

The LS has no lifters as it is a DOHC. For adjustment, I think that it relies on either shims or hydraulic valve adjustment system.

Not sure if this is correct diagnosis. I haven't heard any thing that would indicate that the system is worsening which is typical of cam/valve clearance noise. That diagnosis was made 15,000 miles ago.

Its good to hear that noise did not worsen after 15k. Just came back from dealer yesterday and they suggested an upper engine cleaning,(injectors included) using a GM cleaning kit through vacuum hoses under pressure, which according to mech. would remove carbon buildup. Same mech. advised me to use synthetic oil to prevent any further buildup. Sounds like the info they gave you was basically the same that I got. Thanks, John

I also have switched to Mobil-1 15K miles ago. That probably helped as your mechanic advised.
