Question Idle Control Valve

wut up i'm 21 and just bought a 1990 ls400 lexus, nice car got it for cheap, and wit a extra engine thrown in wit it and low miles on it, the reason i got the car so cheap is because its wont get up to speed the rpms just dont pick up like a normal car does, so i took it into a lexus dealer and they told me it was the idle control valve. I have that on the extra engine i got but i was wondering if any one new wut it looked like, how to take it out or even how to install it, any information would really greatly help me out saving money is wut i like , dont we all
thanks guys

The idle air control valve is located on the front of the intake plenum dead center. Three water hoses connect to it and one electrical contact. Looks like an easy swap but the diagram is a tough read.

Welcome to CL.

Idle air control valve controls one thing ,the idle not anything else.

With all the electronics, could be any number of related issues to track down. This may just be one aspect to correct.

its the Idle air control valve sorry guys was a lil confused but now i understand a lot more thanks, i really need to get it in, the car wen at idle is low and rpms are down they raise wen steppin on the gas makin it hard to reach speed and after 80 it begains to chuck makin me slow down under 80. now when the car is in neutral the idle is high and also the engine is running hard makin the fan blow, i know the idle control valve controls the idle but will it change the car actions wen in neutral. thanks wit the help people it is greatly needed.

From Cureline

I believe the idle air control valve is visible even in this shot. Right front dead center of the engine bay on the intake plenum.

My 94 runs like a champ & I removed my Idle up valve (next to the PS Pump) due to a leak. SC400's don't even have the damn thing.
