Default Ls 400 1995 Engine Knock

I thought I would post this from Import car servicing Sept 01, it reads "Some 1995 LS 400 models may exhibit a slight engine knocking noise when the engine is at normal operating temperature; idling with the A/C on; and when the brakes are applied." They talk about engines starting with production date 12/6/94 and starting with #1uz-0495045 and vin #JT8UF22E S0009267 the installtion of a No1 main bearing that is two marks bigger. With engine #1UZ-0501429 Vin JT8UF22ES0011560 and up the No. 5 Main journal is two marks to big. They say this is on a TSB but they don't give the number I am sure your dealer would know about this.

Well, I am not sure about your current situation, but I have a knocking noise in my LS due to a loose valve. To get the valve timing right, it would cost about $400 in labour.

Default Knocking noise

I just picked up my LS from the dealer last week , I had taken it in for a valve adjustment, they changed the wires while they were in there and I had them take a extra hour to check the rest of the car, total $650.00. not to bad but the part I didnt like was the service manager told me the back brakes were bad and it would be $670.00 to do the rears, after quizing him he said that there were 2mm left on the pads before the sensor would hit the rotor, I think I will change the pads for $50.00 as I don't have any pedal pulse or noise. The reason I posted the TSB above is that before I throw the Mag out I thought someone could benefit from the info, if I run across more technical info I will post also.
