It's a crapshoot dealing with "60K" used JDM engine - as those engines come from cars that failed the shaken inspection. If you know how to tear an engine about and can replace all the seals, gaskets and other expendable items you can have a decent motor. However, I would also check compression as well and if need be the block will need to be honed for new rings.

Lots of money if you have a machine shop do the labor. If you go this route, I suggest getting the TSRM, a GOOD torque wrench and a good set of tools and follow the book procedures to take the head off and if need be to tear the block down. Then take the heads in for a valve job(new valve seals, knurled guides, lapped valves) as well as a crack check.
As for the block, the machinist can get things nice and clean - but you need rings, I'd have that done there too - there's little room for error with rings and pistons.
After the machinist has done his deed, button the engine back up with a OEM or Fel-Pro(yes I know aftermarket gaskets, but Fel-Pro makes good stuff IMO) gasket set, OEM or OES cam drive parts/water pump and give it a few whirls of the crank BEFORE putting the motor back into the car.

Engine
Why would you have to tear down and rebuild a 60k mi idk engine, especially the one in question. You could buy an imported idk 1uz and drop it right in with no issues. Any importer does compression and leakdown tests and your only issue would be wear items. If you are planning on upgrading the engine internals, then by all means yes you would tear down and rebuild. Bu f you jst want a stock engine, then get a used jdm one from the same year, and drop it in. Those engines are solid.
